PROFESSIONAL COMPETITION USING HISTOSCAN portal

In 2019, a professional competition among pathologists was held in Russia . The event was organised with international participation and with the use of telemedicine solutions. The goal was to exchange experience with world-class experts in the diagnosis of rare and complex clinical cases. The high significance of the competition was that the pathologists could study the experience of leading educational and clinical institutions in the USA. More than 50 specialists from all over the country took part in the competition.

The essence of the competition was to study complex diagnostic cases and make the correct diagnosis. In June 2019, a grand final was held within the framework of the All-Russian symposium with international participation "Pathology of bones and soft tissues".

The competition was held distantly with the help of the Histoscan portal. On the portal, world-class industry experts collected a digital images of complex cases from their practice and provided them to the participants of the competition for study.

A digital archive of cases was provided:

  • Jason Hornik, MD,PhD, Professor of Pathology, Harvard Medical School, Director of Surgical Pathology and Immunohistochemistry
  • Nielsen Peter, MD, Professor of Pathology, Harvard Medical School, Pathologists, Massachusetts General Hospital
The contest participants received distant access to 50 rare and complex clinical cases for research in 30 days. During the competition, they had to make a diagnosis and indicate the rationale and description of the line of thought in its formulation. The diagnosis and description were recorded on the Histoscan portal in a confidential format. The data was received immediately by the organizing committee.
The works were estimated by the Committee of the competition. It included leading industry experts from Russia and the USA.
